Scritture chimeriche is an afternoon dedicated to writing, reading, and listening.
Daniela Cascella, writer and editor, and Manuela Pacella, art critic and professor, will read excerpts from their own texts and engage in a conversation around their main themes: the chimeric writing practiced and theorized by Cascella in her books, and the plurality of voices that Pacella has collected and highlighted in her editorial project Tell me stories! the importance of textual rhythm and the materiality of language, as well as the potential of listening.
Daniela Cascella is an Italian-British writer and editor. Her work focuses on forms and transformations of critical writing that inhabit, echo, and are possessed by their subjects: literature, voices, and concealments of the self. Her books explore tensions and points of contact between sonic and literary aspects, through experiments with form, voice, and modes of reading: Beauty, Burning: The Condition of Music (Sublunary Editions, autumn 2025), Nothing as We Need It (Punctum Books, 2022), Chimeras: A Deranged Essay, An Imaginary Conversation, A Transcelation (Sublunary Editions, 2022), Singed. Tell me stories! (Politi Seganfreddo Editions, in collaboration with Flash Art) collects the texts published between 2020 and 2024 for the eponymous column on Flash Art Italia online, curated by Manuela Pacella. A chorus of authorial voices exploring that liminal zone of critical writing that deliberately escapes definitions and blurs the boundaries between genres. The most prominent figures in interdisciplinary art writing, autofiction, theoretical fiction, and both creative and critical writing have been examined through analyses that are themselves experimental.
