SARA BASTA: TESORO CARISSIMO
Tesoro carissimo is the monograph dedicated to the work and research of Sara Basta, published by Viaindustriae and edited by Cecilia Canziani and Ilaria Gianni. The publication retraces the artist’s career while examining some of the key themes that inform her practice: the collective dimension, expressed both through the workshop format and through the participatory creation of artworks; the notion of inhabiting, which also implies a political positioning; and the idea of care, which underlies the previous two and is also embodied within the publication itself.
The contributions by Cecilia Canziani, Ilaria Gianni, Ane Rodríguez Armendáriz, Costanza Meli, and Angelika Burtscher weave together the story of Sara Basta’s work starting precisely from a shared sense of friendship and the urgencies that connect them.
The project was realized with the support of the INPS PSMSAD Fund.

Sara Basta lives and works in Rome. Her works arise from collective research and the creation of small temporary communities between people who share narratives and dialogue through a common practice. She collaborates with the Academy of Fine Arts in Rome, where she teaches History and Models for Art Therapy and where she has carried out several workshops involving students and groups of people from different fields in a research on living. In 2020, she participated in the European Magic Carpets project, invited by the Italian partner Latitudo Art Project with the care of Benedetta Carpi De Resmini and Giulia Pardini. The project involved a group of women from the Trullo neighborhood in Rome. The workshop lasted a few months, ending with the creation of a video and a performance.
