In occasion of A different kind of furs by Klodin Erb, the Swiss Institute in Rome offers free guided tours and creative workshops for 6 to 12 years old children and their families.

Klodin Erb's research investigates painting beyond the use of canvas and classic brushes. Her works are full of colour and gestures and reflect on the history of art, tracing different forms and genres and exploring the languages of the most famous artists, narrating them as in a story suspended between dream and wakefulness. Through painting, the moving image, sculpture and fabric Klodin Erb creates image associations that open up worlds seen from new perspectives, overturning univocal and traditional readings. Between them, as in the absence of gravity, the bodies appear suspended, intertwined with each other, immersed in oversized vegetation, as if launched into reckless explorations of an unknown universe.

The young visitors will be invited to discover the works of Klodin Erb, experimenting with new points of view and investigating the forms and use of the different materials she has chosen.
The creative activity following the visit to the exhibition will allow children and young people to translate the experience of the visit and will give them the opportunity to express the acquired informations and sensations.

Sono tre gli incontri proposti da IUNO Studio per la mostra di Klodin Erb, A different kind of furs: a new workshop at each meeting.

Saturday 15 April  11.00 – 12.30 a.m.

A sinking heart

Observing Klodin Erb’s works in the firstroom of the exhibition, we find ourselves immersed in environments full of colour and shapes. Wild gardens, oversized plants and vegetables in which we seem to see inhabitants or explorers of these painted surfaces, lost among the fluid traces and bright colours.
The children will create imaginary gardens, using the collage technique with different fabrics and decorations that also recall the large works that Klodin has created specifically for the exhibition and which float in the adjacent room as imposing as dancers covered in tulle , furs and sequins.

Saturday 20 April 11:00 – 12.30 a.m.

Me, in a painting

Sometimes you have to remember to look up to be able to see. Klodin Erb seems to remind us of this by displaying her works well above our heads, sometimes almost under the ceiling, such as the 32 portraits from the Orlando series which presents faces belonging to various eras and different worlds, from human to animal, from fictional characters and, to those inspired by different artistic currents. With the help of a mirror and the oil pastel technique we will make our self-portrait on a sheet of tissue paper, imagining ourselves with the strangest and most different clothing and accessories. In the drawing we will also insert a fruit or vegetable chosen as a personal identity symbol. We will then attach the sheet to a thin wooden board where, in the lower part - as in a medieval predella - we can add two or three scenes depicting our symbolic fruit in strange contexts and bizarre situations.

Saturday 10 June 11:00 – 12.30 a.m.

The Secret Garden/In the Gardens of Erb

Starting from the observation of the work Plant’s Life and of the garden of the Swiss Institute, the children will create a habitat of plants, trees and imaginary plant forms through collage, using various kinds of paper and decorations. They will then apply a darkening surface on their work which will allow only certain parts of their garden to be glimpsed through small and thin openings, re-proposing that flavor of mystery and wonder of the installation Star travels and lunar phases that the artist installed in the boudoir of the Building.
